Gonna have to observe some of the visual clue and also somewhat subtle interactions from An's end.

For example, she was obviously fishing for a "cute" from him a couple chapters ago and this was because he called her that the chapter before. Considering how modest she behaves generally, this fishing attempt shows that Shunpei is special enough for her to try for it.

I think my favorite detail in this series might be how all the Azeno kids call each other by their first names — because of course they do, they’re the only 20 kids their age in town and they’ve been classmates since preschool. It’s so different from most manga settings, where switching to a first name is a Big Deal. Even as distant as An’s become, and even with all the awkward feelings Shunpei’s started to develop about her, he never even considers calling her “Takayagawa” like her new classmates do. It’s a neat blend of closeness through language and separation through emotion.
