actually covered my mouth in shock when Shunpei asked to keep talking lmao, you go kid. Also the overlapping speech bubbles with ellipses when they were both struggling to say something over the phone was a cute touch

The line "I wanna keep talking. At least until dinner" hit me very hard. It is now my favorite moment in the whole series, it moved the twintail moment from chapter 6 to the second place.

It's so interesting that the awkward pauses and moments of tension in the whole first half of the chapter are universal enough to transcend any specific language. It's SO well-paced and the little distractions like the chair creaking and adjusting the aircon add so much to it. Author is seriously cinematically-minded.

Speaking of sfx, @NamekazeMinato you've been crushing it with them, and the layout of the "dozy" crossword on pg.12 made me happy in a way that's hard to explain. The familiarity of the sounds of the bus are weirdly important to the tone and sense of place, and I appreciate their inclusion. Thanks for this series.

hoho, Shunpei here is seriously missing An-chan a lot, he even drags out their phone calls just so he can keep chatting with her longer. even when he meets An-chan on the bus, MC starts wondering what kind of swimsuit she’ll be wearing oh yeah, if you pay attention, it kinda feels like Shunpei’s mom already gives her approval and wouldn’t mind at all if An-chan ends up becoming MC girlfriend someday, judging from her slightly over-the-top reaction. Shunpei is trying to look cool here with his sunglasses, he looks like Shizuo Heiwajima from anime Durarara.

IMO the moment they decide to sit together on the bus ride is above any confession scene. Closeness fit them better than being love-dovey

I got confused for a second reading this, because this conversation already happened three months ago in discussion of chapter 14:

I'm pretty sure she calls him Rikkun in the raws. りく + くん = りっくん

I don't use honorifics in my TL. (Unless very necessary)

I'm aware. It's just that from my understanding the つ is there to indicate gemination and not to imply that she calls him Ritsu. Like how 特権 (とっけん) is broken down into 特 (とく) + 権 (けん)

to me there were many, it's just different with an, she gets silent and pensative, while with shunpei we get a more expansive reaction

two situations that emphasized her awarness of him were when she went to her old school to watch him jump and when the tourist calls her shunpei's girlfriend
