I don't think two years of pre-school before first grade is unheard of even in the US. With, pre-k and kindergarten you can absolutely have classmates for 10 years by 8th grade. And I guess it might be different in different places, I honestly thought Japan had 3 year olds going to some schooling equivalent, but maybe not.

True I guess, and I was also thinking of actual years passed and not years of being in same class.
Aka, they are on their 10th grade together now, but are likely not much past 9 full years in time based on the context.
Due to this difference I was thinking they had 3 years before elementary, starting at around age of 4, which felt pretty young to me

I didnt think shed implement the advice i commented on a prior chapter so swiftly, good job girl.
Im still looking forward to finding out her reasons, both for seperating herself from the rest of the class, and for not telling them beforehand. I have what i think are pretty gold guesses bit im interested to her it from her and what she thinks of these reasons, as well as her actions, retrospectively. Cause clearly she wants to be close to this guy(probably romantically, could also be platonically) but still apprently chose to create a distance and wait for him to engage with her.
