I found this part kinda weird. Maybe An had decided to go after Shunpei, but changed her mind when she saw the teacher?

Either way, it weirded me out too

The teacher is trying to make sure every one of his students is accounted for, so he asks Shunpei whether he knows of some other student lagging behind.

They will likely do something similar to other series, like say Demi-chan, where the teacher just tells the kid that its not worth it to persue your teacher, give her a little heart break and end her character arc with a bittersweet feeling with a bright future ahead.

Yeah, not every series can be Getsuyoubi no Tawawa.
