Feel like author doesn't really know what to do now that they are in a relationship he keeps having flashbacks of what seems like irrelevant things just for the sake of exposition. Even this "fight" and MCs reluctance to race seems a bit out of left field

I'm glad it's not dragged into something that could backstab the author themselves. Get my boy Jirou more screentime ffs

I ain't gonna lie, I'm so glad the flashback is over, except the part where Jirou and Akari made up (and Minami's advice) both felt rushed because the short number of pages. Maybe it's just me though.

Other than that, kudos to the author for not dragging unnecessary drama, and to the translation group for releasing all the good content.

Not gonna lie, I'm not sure if it's just because I'm sleep-deprived and my brain is fried, but I'm struggling to make sense of this arc.
I think you summarized it perfectly, you already got your answer

In the flashback, we learn about Akari's initial love for Tenjin and see some of her own struggles, revealing that her carefree attitude might not be as effortless as Jirou thinks

By noticing that she puts effort into her carefree attitude, it makes him realize needs to put an effort to be more carefree like she is, because right now he's just scared and running away and letting himself be influenced by people who shouldn't have anything to do with his life

It's been a while since I read this, so I don't really remember if Jirou had any growth about his confidence in that way. So maybe this arc's conclusion will be Jirou maturing and letting go of past traumas, and choosing to pursue the career path he originally planned

I feel like the mother should have said something different. for me this mini arc was bringing back this idea that it’s wrong to idealize the person you love, that’s why I also feel like the mother should have told her something else, Tenjin is nowhere near perfect but Akari being in love couldn’t notice it and the main character has the same thing with Akari regarding not being able to understand that things are not what they seem, but since we’ve seen that before it feels redundant, I guess it’s to show that Akari actually suffers from the same thing as the protagonist.

I squealed like a girl when she knocked on his door

They're so fucking cute together
I hope we have a chunky "meeting the parents" chapter soon

Chapter to fast, I didn't even understand the transition in the page 11 though.

They kissed. It just wasn't shown. It's why they're blushing and the counter appeared
I don’t think they kissed. There’s no sfx to hint for that, but there’s sfx (pon pon) meaning he is tapping her shoulder twice with her hand. That’s not exactly something you do after a kiss exactly.

So my guess is more that they didn’t do anything, no kiss, no hug. The counter didn’t show that it went up, it just appeared for one panel. (Counter also appeared before alleged kissing happened)
