The pacing seems off. Everything just moves so damn fast and nothing really feels earned or built up. As it is right now i can’t quite understand the high rating.

So it turns out I was all wrong about the release schedule for this manga in Japan. Apparently the official raws website (the one linked here on MangaDex) has all the way up to chapter 11 already, but any other website you can buy the manga from is only up to chapter 5. I never looked there before because I had no reason to believe they would be ahead on the publisher's website compared to the other retailers. So that's my bad!

I was able to make an account on the official site and purchase the chapters I'm missing but I'm having trouble downloading them. I'd really prefer to download them in the full size like all the chapters I've done so far (844x1200), but so far I've only been able to download them in a smaller size (659x937). That's about 22% smaller, which is still serviceable, and I might be able to upscale without it looking terrible.. but I'm going to try for a little longer to download the full size.

I have no idea when new chapters actually release now, however. It could still be bi-weekly like I originally thought, or it could even be weekly. Either way I'm not fast enough to keep up with it so I'm just going to try and put out a chapter every two weeks if I can. At least it means I always have something to do since I'll be perpetually behind. lol. I'm gonna keep an eye on the raws website to see how often new chapters come out, too.

Cheers!

@Malte Agreed. It certainly feels artificially high atm. Especialy compared to how lq the story and art feel. I am going to ring it up to a combo of good timing by the scanlators/uploaders here, and excessive reader optimism on where the story will go from here. It is in season after all, and right now we probably have more votes by people who just read it for the first time than those who got over the new story hype and came back to revote a day/2 latter.

The dark vibes in the opening drew me in, but it just barely managed to hint that it is not targeted to me by the last few panels of ch 1. After that we quickly go from the darkish overworked opening with a relativly realistic MC to spoiled otherworld life with a MC too accepting and empty minded for me to accept. Can't even bring myself to find the characters cute... really not my drawing style. Not fond of any of them, whether it be the giant poodle, 4 ears, or the slug horse (seriously something is wrong with that guy).

Story isn't great either. She just gets everything handed to her without trying and seems to be OP, with no training. This would be fine if the author was doing something with it, but this does not appear to be a comedic effect. Becoming OP as just part of the setting is... lazy and unintuitive at best.

Curious what others are hooked on, is it just the art? I do think it is supposed to be cutesy, but it is incredibly out of my taste.
How to put it... too round, too much focus on facial expressions, gestures too exaggerated, MC too trusting (especially given her background), progressing too fast with too little direction, and a horse that is too ugly. Yep... that sounds right. Cannot overstate how hideous the horse is

@monoreposi I think people mainly enjoy this because it’s such a light and “fluffy” story, I certainly have mangas i enjoy because it’s just an easy comfy read when I don’t feel like diving into a deep complex story. I still find the rating odd but I guess it just tapped into a market not explored maybe? I don’t find the characters particularly endearing, but that is mainly a result of, what i personally find to be, the horrendous pacing which really kills the manga for me.

I want to like this because it's cute, but the premise of summoning winter is SO STUPID. Like, have you never been to the tropics? You don't need snow to have an environment. If anything it's bad for the animals. There's a reason so many sleep through it.

If it was a side plot I could ignore it, but it being the main point is really jarring.

Wouldn't dare say that this was kinda thinking outside the box thing rather, the author wants to be different and used unusual kind of plot. Looking forward to the justifications and importance of winter as main point of the story.

@yukiwa hmm.. I think they live in a planet who needs winter (their ecosystem already used to a winter), so summoning winter is important, in essence for them no winter is like when you put a polar bear in the middle of Sahara desert.

@Anti_Immortal Could you give some justification as to why you would rate this 9/10 I’m quite curious to hear the reasons. Is it just because you like it and you think it’s cute or do you have some more standards? From what I see the art is mediocre and the same goes for the story so I just wonder what makes it such a masterpiece in your eyes?
