Honestly I don't know why I read this manga anymore… it's gone so wildly far from the LN it's effectively its own derived franchise at this point

Sometimes the original is a mess of a story and some deviations are necessary to make it coherent. But usually not, since then it probably wouldn't be popular enough to get an adaptation.
