I will slap myself in the face if the culprit of the zombie apocalypse turn out to be that app or an evil AI.

I'm at chapter 26-27 ... can someone explain to me why the helicopter crashed down? I don't get it. Wasn't that person looking for them?

@Lorraine

I was under the assumption that the helicopter guy was infected and maybe as a last ditch effort to do something good, he wanted to save the school girls he thought survived. He circled above the school, saw all the zombies, and basically lost hope that anyone survived, and finally crushed the picture in sadness or anger, broke the medicine thinking it was all pointless, and then he lost control and crashed from turning.

Though none of this is explicitly stated, that's just how I read it at least.

Thanks. Yeah I'm at c62 now - so with Kurumi not being completely healed but rather fighting the infection it makes sense. He was carrying some medicine aswell. And I've been wondering why they didn't bring that with them or checked the University Emergency Shelter for more of that unfinished Serum.

It wasn't a bad plan and they made the necessary precautions too, shame it didn't work out.

I can't still get over that this great story was made into a really shitty anime in a K-on style. Why?

Well actually... the K-on anime is way better then it's manga version... so maybe not the best compare for something that is a failure... but still understandable in it's own rights.

Hey Kurumi used to be such a physically capable kid, then she got infected and she can't even move now. Hope they make the cure soon.
And I thought the anime was really shitty too.
@theShear what do you mean in the spoiler? I don't understand your statement.

Wow this was a great find. I don't usually look for this kind of story but when I find a good one I have trouble stopping until I'm caught up.

The plan was to get them to rescue them after all by using Kurumi's state as bait but adding the demand that they stay together no matter what while using the AI to test if they say the truth (the precaution). They took the bait but lied when agreeing to the demand, the plan "failed" since they won't be rescued but at least they know and can escape. ... though now that the Corp knows about Kurumi they might actively hunt them now.

While they used Kurumi's state as bait I don't think it actually failed. I think they had two reasons for the plan. It's likely they already knew the plan would fail. Much of this manga has been quite deceptive. As mentioned that they would not be alive in the next few days and the rescue team lied about coming to them, because someone is planning to burn the city (possibly by dropping bombs) and they don't care about, just wanting to get things done. It's going to happen sometime in the next few days. As also stated that they would not be able escape it in time or out-run the destruction... So maybe the plan was expected to fail so they could delay the bombs been dropped and buy some more time to get back and save everyone. That team was unlikely going to come out for anything else and pretending to put Kurumi as bait was all part of the plan. They had their own bowman and would know if Kurumi was lying. They never stated exactly that it was Kurumi who'd survived so they won't know who to take. she said "we have someone" which is the truth. All this could be wrong. I have a feeling that the the lie detector thing maybe a bit inaccurate too as we see in some of the parts with yuki. We'll only wait and see soon.

I originally thought maybe the guy in the helicopter was going to save them, but due the aerial infection he got infected then accidentally broke the medicine before he could use it (nerve reflex). He could have use the gun on the zombies but now it seems more likely he was intending to kill the girls to make sure no one survived. At first it seemed like some kind of terrorist attack but if it's central to their location in Japan how likely is it that this was done on purpose? and that it actually happened before but why was it kept secret? Because it failed to kill everyone? They didn't want any survivors. It could be they were worried that someone has actually overcome or even become immune to the infections and need to eliminate them asap, aka Kurumi.

Making Yuki mentally unstable and the way she sees the world differently worked first time round but doing it a second time with the little girl was kind of weak. It didn't work well and it was obvious but it does strike me that these girls never seem to think about their families/parents much.

Spoiler 1: Good thought, I think it it might be part of the backup plan though and not the main one. Otherwise they woudln't be so devastated.
Spoiler 2: I think he do was there to rescue them, even the Guys from
Randall wanted to help them at first until they found out where they are.
