The thing about replacing the chain of an external gearing bicycle is the risk of the new chain being incompatible with the old sprockets of the cassette, especially the smallest ones. After all, the chain wears out in sync with the sprockets. So, if you only change the chain, the chain may start slipping. But then again, who knows how old that bike really is and how much the gal has been biking. It could be she just has taken poor care of it, no cleaning and lubrication, so the sprockets might still be okay even if the chain is a rusty goner.

I wonder how much these types of manga exaggerate the social caste system of Japanese schools. Probably somewhat, but not too much because manga is written for the Japanese audience. So, if the Japanese found it too stupid, the manga would fail. Nevertheless, this is one of the making school friends is rocket science manga. If only it was sprocket science instead, the MC might have a chance.

I'm liking this so far! And there's no drama tag (for now at least)that's a huge plus!

Would it kill them to make MC look a little bit more unique? I don't even care anymore. I just get sick of the gal x black hair normal dude discourse on Twitter. Fuck man. At least give him a charm, a cool scarf, SOMETHING, ANYTHING. Give him a big nose, crooked teeth, a scar... bro anything.

He probably just said it to get away (and possibly to encourage her to get a professional to look at it).

I'm kind of impressed he fixed it so easily though. I usually have to turn the bike upside down before being able to easily slip the chain back on.
