The girls play with the idea and joke about it working but they make fun of it, going as far as laughing at the mere thought of Otaku-kun asking for it since he wouldn't. Not an outright rejection but it isn't something being considered for real.
The manga pisses me off since they always deny the idea of dating him for real if he isn't there in front of them but when he is all that talk goes out the window. Every time one of them is alone with him that person """"jokingly""" confesses to him or tries to get him to think about her as girlfriend material. It's like they are trying to trick themselves into being satisfied with their current relationship, both have """jokingly""" said they are fine with dating him if he wants to.
