Hmm... what if... what if his father is a good guy? Do keep in mind all along we've been learning about him from Sasae's perspective.

I highly doubt there's a context where he can be a good guy, he might be understandable but I really doubt I'll think it righteous he behaves how he does.

Thanks for the TL

"I reject my humanity, Jojo!"

What? So all those early chapters were just scams to the readers? I thought Sasae already exposed what he sacrificed in order to make contract with those 3 rank 1 spirits.

I thought he gave entertainment, his eye, and his hand from the beginning and now it was death which is probably all of that together
To initiate the contracts, yes. How long he lasts may have been another matter altogether.
That's why IRL you have items and bullet points in legal contracts, to clearly define the agreement.

Like when for example, in a lease contract, things that define what kind of damages, maintenance, repairs, and responsibilities are the responsibility of the tenant or the landlord.

Since when the fuck does trading "the problem" for "not having the problem" a good twist?

What next? Trading "weakness" for "strength"?
Someone needs to tell the author and editor that writing a twist that no one has ever done before isn't the same as being clever.
We're not really that far off that level of hackery on like 2 billion other isekai mangas that are all "I have the weakest ____ skill/weapon/whatever, which actually means I'm the strongest.", so I'm not even sure it's safe to say this hasn't ever been done before.

Immortality is a curse in itself but I feel like giving up dying isn’t an equal payment since you also become immortal.
It is more than that, you gave up your death to some 'being' for more power. This means this 'being' have control over your Death and when you died.

You are stuck to life until this being give back your death. It can also be the worse torture, because you can be hurt many times but still not dead.

if translation is accurate then he just can't dead which isn't equal to immortal (see in mc case, even when he lost limb or eye they won't recovered, he also probably can't die even in pieces or vegetable state)

Between the chest and the lips... that's a girl.
It's just a classic case of "draw a girl, call it a guy" situation since they don't know how androgynous guys really look like. Opposite is also widespread as well with all the "its not really yaoi if i call the literal shoujo male lead character a girl" mangas

Watching everyone you ever care about die as you slowly numb yourself to the concept of love, friendship and family that you will never, ever be able to keep is a fate worse than any death.

You better create a damn good caveat for giving up the natural fate of death for power AND immortality in the next chapter, author, otherwise there should be hundreds if not thousands of immortal mages in that world.
