Tavern Rumble - a roguelike deck-building game. The best part about it is that you can unlock all the decks without paying. The game is generous and the ads are reasonable and sparse.
Bladeslinger - There used to be a free version in the play store, but it's been removed. I'm not sure why. Thankfully, I still have it on my phone. It's a steampunk third-person RPG that combines guns, blades and magic. The controls are smooth and it's really satisfying punching, gunning and slashing opponents. Story's not amazing imo, but it's enough to get you by.
Gunfinger - another one no longer in the play store. It's an on-the-rails FPS for mobile, and rewards you well enough to get by the campaign. Can't say the same for the ranks though, but they let you test out paid guns every week.
Corridor Z - inverted temple run with zombies. I can't find it on the play store as well, but I can say that it has all the charms of temple run and more. Mostly the story.
Underhand - it's a card game that has you playing as the cult leader. Great game if you just want to relax for a bit. The art, music and sound fx are stellar.
9 Elements - remember Tekken Ball from Tekken 3? A combat volleyball with some RPG elements mixed in.
Dead Trigger - Like a solo Left 4 Dead for mobile.
Space Marshals 2 - Tactical top-down shooter with a sci-fi wild west theme. Though some perks are only available paid, I generally prefer melee anyway so it didn't really bother me.
King of Opera - a rather fun party game for up to 4 players. Love the sound effects and mini games. Great with the kids.
Immortal Rogue - a roguelike with tight controls and amazing pixel art. Paid though.
Otherworld Legends - a beat-em-up game with amazing pixel art, tight controls and amazing roster. You only get 2 or 3 characters for free but honestly, it's still a blast.
Rogue Adventure - another roguelike deckbuilding game that you can complete all for free.
Ronin: The Last Samurai - if Dark Souls combat and Archero had a baby, this would be it. Great graphics, amazing controls. Can't really complain with this one.
99 dead pirates - great pickup and play game for when you need to just pass the time.
Aporia - it's still in the play store since I can still see it in my phone, but I can't seem to google it. It's the one made by 111%. You play as a magician that's fending off an army. Gorgeous pixel art.
Bomb Squad - a hilarious physics-based party game that has you blowing up friends in various mini-games.
PikPok games - all of them are pretty good actually, each with their own charm. I can't seem to find Breakneck among them, though I can still install it from my library in the play store.
Cyberlords Arcology - I can't find it in the play store anymore, but it's still installable from there. They have a free version with ads being the only limitation. It's a strategy RPG set in the future.
Destroy Gunners - mech-game which has good controls and a passable story. The appeal mostly is in the mechs but you only get one for free iirc.
Dead Space - it had a mobile version for some time. Played pretty well, imo.
Dark Avenger - can't seem to find it on the play store at all. It's an rpg with a surprisingly satisfying combo mechanic.
ENYO - tactical roguelike that uses hook and shield.
Evil Factory - at this point, if I don't link it, I can't find it. Bullethell with simple controls but great gameplay.
Fighting EX Layer - as an April Fool's joke, they released a mobile game with only 4 characters available and touch controls that involved swiping and tapping like skullgirls. Surprisingly, however, it was rather well made and immensely enjoyable. Unfortunately, a lot of the reviewers didn't understand the reference so it kept getting low ratings despite the promising gameplay. I doubt we'll ever see this get picked up considering the low rating and waned interest.
Flick Champions Extreme - collection of mini games with simple controls
Glory Ages - Samurais - a very simple game, much like Ronin, but no story or campaign to work with. It's main selling point is the enemy AI which I feel is better compared to others.
GodSpeed Arcade Cabinet - I got this for free from their promotion. A vertical schmup with great sounds and graphics. It's a bullethell if that's up your alley.
Head Boxing - a cartoonish 3d boxing game. A bit repetitive, but great for passing the time.
Hellrider 3 - a vertical runner, much like Into The Dead 2, but running on higher speeds and a bit more chaotic and varied.
Jet Set Radio - it had a mobile port that was pretty fun to play. There were some hiccups here and there, but it was playable and the full content was freely available.
King Crusher - roguelike that has you dodging and attacking on a 3x3 grid in real-time combat.
Majesty: Northern Kingdom - this is more of a simulation game than a strategy game tbh, and I prefer playing it on a tv than on mobile. On that note, I find it enjoyable for a management game and is more on the casual side of things.
Pako - car chase game. pretty simple, yet fun.
Sierra 7 - on-the-rails shooter with a mission-based campaign. Great controls and nostalgic 2d art.
Skull Legends - I dont know what's up with this game. I can install the original by PlayShore from the play store, but not search it although if you look around, there are copies of it everywhere and I've already found 2 that are the exact same from 2 different publishers and under different names albeit littered with ads and in-game purchases. I didn't really want to recommend it considering, but it's a really fun game. It's an arcade FPS that has you fending off the undead in 3d cartoon fashion that looks like the arcade game,
Ghost Town. It's the closest one to it as a matter of fact and is a blast to play.
Survival Penguin - it's a sumo-like arcade game, much like King of Opera, but I can't find it in the play store anymore. Made by althi inc.
Tales Rush - archero clone but with more variety with play style.
Tape it Up! - fun arcade game that has you jumping around and taping boxes, gradually picking up speed and complexity.
The Lawless - another on-the-rails shooter, but this one is more of a QTE. Playing it on mobile is like playing it on easy. I think the real challenge is when you play it on the TV with a mouse.
Smash Hit - a relaxing on-the-rails, physics-based shooter that has you shooting steel balls on glass.
Vector - parkour-based game. Alternatively, there's
Shadow Skate which feels like the easy version of Vector on skateboard.
World War Polygon - it's like call of duty: world at war for mobile. The voxel-style graphics doesn't take anything away from the story and gameplay.
Xash3D - Half-life on mobile? Yes, please. Best played with a controller though.
There were a couple more, but not only are they no longer available on the play store, they're also no longer compatible on newer versions of android (e.g. king of zombies, 300, etc.). And then there are others that I vaguely remember playing and enjoying, but can't recall the names of so I couldn't find them anymore.
