I guess his parents really were a cancer to him. Had his mother never shown up, Mochizuki would've never doubted himself and never had a reason to even think about 'what if Kawaru only likes me because I'm a rabbit?' He would've never heard about the bullshit 'dango' thing and tried to turn human. The whole situation is singularly because his "mother" showed up and started placing cancer in his mind. Stupid bitch should've just stayed on the moon and suffocated to death.

also the whole "you must come to the moon if you transform because your blood make other people transform" is nonsensical. He was making people transform way before his transformation or learning what he was.
Either the mother told a lie for some reason or she is just spitting out what she was made to believe (but it's provable false)

Honestly, while this is a cute read, I think the potential was wasted. For example here the issue isn't that the mother acted in a certain way. Is that while he knows what she is saying is not correct he doesn't question at all. As:
Mother: "you need to return if you transform because your blood make animal people stuck"
Him: "But I made people transform even before transforming, the first when I was 10. Wherever I succeeded to transform or not doesn't seem to be important to this, so what you aren't telling me?"
