When Itami went through different gates, one was full of Xenomorph eggs. After he got back unharmed he got sick of all the medical tests and faked having a chest burster. Now he had a guard posted to observe him, so Rory decides to try and make him go away by being extremely affectionate to Itami, causing the guard to leave them alone for a few minutes. Itami is then arrested for "molesting a child" and they won't accept "but officer she was 960 years old" as an excuse

Yeah, that's so dumb. It's one thing for military vehicle not to be checked, but I'd expect at least an X-Ray gate for non-JSDF vehicles. But then that would make smuggling people impossible since you can't go around the Gate, and the author had no idea how to advance the Chinese plot in any other way.

I don't think the world has changed all that much. My favorite example will always be the old sitcom "Married with children", go to any clip of the show on Youtube and you find people claiming that you couldn't make the show today, because "woke" people would cancel it and sure there would be people complaining about it, but what they forget or never knew is, that people wanted to cancel it back when it was on air as well. Though I think it was more the moralistic christians back then.

What did change was the Internet handing every person a megaphone to shout their opinion into the world and more importantly making it possible to find people who share that opinion no matter how weird it is.
And then the 24/7 News cycle comes along and takes these absurd opinions that received 5 likes on facebook and present it as the opinion of "insert group of people name here".

And don't get me started on the US exporting their social issues to the rest of the world through cultural dominance.

This series has always been JSDF military propaganda. They've complained about protesters, reporters, and civilian leaders and oversight boards, and ever foreign military from the very start.

This is nothing new.

It's not an author things to hate on all these people.
As far as i know most soldier around the world heavily dislike all the people you talked about. Why? Because they are the reason of many of the casuality, either because they lower the ammount of material and personal they get, or because they straight out make them look like evil that only want to kill everythings.
And none of them ever set foot in front of the politics realy responcible for it.

Lots of people keep talking about how this is full on propaganda, but author is actualy doing a good job at showing how things would look if it happened in the modern world.
Sure the author is biased toward his army, but it's not as sever as people seem to think. We regulary see the soldier fail meserably to help people. I mean, do no one remember the cute little harpy and her lover?

It's not like he is going full "Nihon Banzai".
