Given how most people can't distinguish East Asians from each other, there's a possibility that Japanese Military guarding the GATE can't distinguish themselves from the Chinese infiltrating personnel. There is no "CCP" in China. If you mean the country, it is the PRC - Peoples Republic of China. If you mean the Communist Party, then it is the CPC - Communist Party of China. That is the offical english name.

As for why China would do so: Kinda obvious, why the fuck would they not get antsy when their totally-not-fascist-wink-wink neighbour suddenly got access to a whole world to colonize and exploit. That would mean Japanese Empire 2.0 in short order, China never forgot about Nanjing.

I think the pacing is weird because there's a lot of stuff happening everywhere when for most of the manga, it was focused pretty much only on Itami and his immediate circle with the odd chapter or end of volume bonus to develop the rest of the cast and setting. Because of how much is happening, the author has to jump around. It'll probably feel better to read four or five chapters at a whack.

I was bored and it's a holiday, so I poked around on the internet. Since the wiki for the Type 10 says it's using 120mm NATO ammo in a Rheinmetall Rh-120 main gun from a Leopard 2, I'm going to assume it can do what the Leopard 2 can do. This video youtube.com/watch?v=Tsg1rSiKyhI has a Leopard 2 gunner describing the rounds being used in combat right now, so I'm using it to jump to some of my own conclusions. The Type 10 tanks in GATE had previously had been shown used as almost field artillery, so I think it could have been a multipurpose or smart HE round w/ programmable airburst. The explosion could have been bigger/cooler!
