A heat pump is literally just an AC with a reverse valve. Every single AC produces heat as it cools. That heat is dumped outside, generating the cool air inside. The reverse valve just lets it change which direction it moves heat. It's the exact same device otherwise.There's a difference between AC and a heat pump. Heat pumps can pump cool air, or heat. AC's can not.
