Whenever I read that this manga is propaganda I just laugh since that would make COD and pretty much every other videogame and comic that features the US army as the heroes of justice and peace. The author is japanese and he was a member of the JSDF (as far as I know) so of coursw he will use the army of his country and the one he has experience with for his story. Lol

When people complain about this being very nationalistic or propagand...ic? it's not hard to assume that they also find problems with depictions of any country, yes even the US, doing this in forms of media. There's a pretty big difference between being proud of your country or wanting to show them in a good light and basically making them the best of the best with everyone else being bumbling morons. Especially when "going for realism" and then picking and choosing your realism carefully. I don't think anyone who is annoyed by this is going off to play Call of Duty and shouting "FUCK YEAH AMERICA" while they do it, that's a bit disingenuous.

That said it's not like it's a bad manga or that makes it awful or anything. It just means when you read it you kinda roll your eyes a bit and then wonder when Rori is gonna show up again.

ugh as much as i think the reporter is a jackass and a bad reporter I do agree with his feeling that a restricted area built by the government would be favorable to them and that there would be areas outside of that that would have different feelings, I mean there is a civil war for god sakes and yeah there is no such thing as neutrality in journalism, there never was and never will be.

Like its those parts of this manga with the tinge of militarism and the caricature of the "fake news" stuff that puts the bad taste in my mouth
