@Byonbyon It was mentioned that they(the familiar) are "(probably)male." It could simply be that they don't have a gender, or that they can change their physical appearance(genitalia included) at will. The fact that most flowers are hermaphrodites(they have both male and female reproductive organs) and that the familiar is a lotus could also suggest that they simply have both and are thus both male and female.
