Shame he didn't name it Shinano. Since it's a supercarrier.

the author really underestimates the complexity of modern aircraft carriers, i very much doubt MC has blueprint knowledge about battleships
That's precisely why the MC makes it a huge deal to Castor that he went out of his way to look for people with the skills and talents he lacks to work on his side for the good of their small Kingdom. On top of that, magic exists, so there are things that would be an issue in our world (construction time here in particular) that can now be reduced.

Everything else that needed to be said, Shinigami_Death already mentioned.

erm yeah I totally built this massive aircraft carrier in secret and never told anyone (or the reader) about it until we conveniently needed it

I was just thinking that I must have forgotten the scene were this was foreshadowed. But I guess it was a retcon line, then, to say he launched the project back then.
iirc it was foreshadowed in a throwaway line during the arc involving conversations with their friendly neighbourhood empire, that Souma had a plan b if the talks went to hell. It bothers me that I can't remember which chapter it was and the characters involved.

It could also be that I'm flipping the manga and LN over and that such a line wasn't said in the manga and only in the LN.

they could turn the quick grew plant into a agricultural bom
  • slice it with weed or something that grew and spread quickly but die after sometime or by some condition
  • make the field barren after use
  • covertly drop the seed on enemy farmland and wait for the ensuing chaos

Oh I like the discussion about the growth-promoting magic. It is like how Green Revolution speed up food production but also increase soil erosion and desertification. But like Souma said, magic can solve everything. So I guess they will find a rapid solution for this.

I’m here lollin’ at the “research the research“ title and the rest of you are planning how to properly green a desert using magic

not used to being the dumb guy in a thread, it’s a nice change of pace

I love how this manga’s more complex than other mangas and causing people to discuss about agriculture solutions and such. I mean I’m sure this manga has some things to complain about but a manga that’s at least trying to be all technical and thought out is amazing. I'm enjoying reading the comments here

Is that a Selina and Poncho side ship under construction? Glad to see more of the other guys getting ships of their own.

I hope Souma has another carrier in the works, the reason they were effective in WWII was due to force concentration: grouping several carriers (e.g. the Japanese Kido Butai or the American Fast Carrier Task Force) together allows for maximum force projection capable of destroying fleets of ships.

His approach seems to be trying to copy the more modern US supercarrier doctrine (carrier battlegroup) of only one large supercarrier (but supported by ships carrying guided missiles); but for that doctrine to be effective he has to have the firepower to match. One carrier with an air wing of insufficient firepower might as well be a decoy against an enemy fleet.
