Yep, it hasn't yet been further explained, other than that they are rather pacifist and multiracial as a small factor that adds to why they didn't join against the demon race (this doesn't really make much of a sense as to why they didn't join against the demons, so there must've been some other leading factors). The exposition in this manga feels like it was aimed at younger audience.

Pretty much all isekai manga are aimed at a younger audience. This one feels like it's aimed at a slightly older audience than the average, actually. But still young.
