even with them not instantly detaining him aside, the spacing they had and the fact that non didn't instantly back away after her father got stabbed is stupid
"oh I'm in the frontline against someone that seems to be about to try to kill me while I am just a healer, better stay completely still and not resist at all"

also the mc could have instantly cast something to put him on the defense/ force him to back off instead of just staring at him while he takes non hostage
sucks that the author decided that making everyone dumb as fuck instead of acting like the experienced adventurers they are is the better plot decision

The novel I read was edited MTL but there he stabbed Dantes and immediately grabbed Non. He takes his sweet time here

Agreed with everyone saying here, though i could give the benefit of the doubt to the healer girl being shocked, still kinda stupid tho. Mc and the cat girl however had the balls turning their backs on the fucker while saying things that basically outed him, even though they had a clear suspicion of him already. I guess they make the Mc too op that they had to nerf him by making him retarded sometimes

from all the experience he got from years of capturing bandits and meeting people that are douches, MC really let Non get taken hostage easily.

yep, author made the MC a moron for the plot point, there isn't even another answer.
ffs him and cat lady were awake in case he pulled some shit, but when they get a little separate and notice that he actually was doing some shit, sure to not let his teammates be prepared in case of shenanigans.

I guess their collective brains were too tired after solving all those puzzles to even doubt that ducking fastard history. Every statement of his was incredibly suspicious but nobody even bothered to keep an eye on him until he clearly stated the obvious.

Oh please, Leon is the biggest idiot there. He first feeds some bullshit 'traitor' story, then acts like he somehow should still be in charge, then he acts like he up and fucking murdered his companions. He could have just said they all got separated, or attacked and the others died or something. Even if Reiji and co. figured something was off, it'd still go over better than what Leon ended up doing.

As for the groups reaction, Dante, Non and Mimio all already knew the guy (from before this arc), and probably didn't expect Leon to act like this (yes, even though he already abandoned people in the past). On page 10 you can see that Mimio immediatly went to heal Dante, while Reiji and Zerry were ready to fight, but there's a good chance Non was more than a bit shocked, slowing her ability to react (and to be fair, Leon is a frontline swordsman, while Non is a backline support, him being able to overpower her isn't hard to believe).

"They should have tied him up!!!". Sure, in hindsight, knowing what they do now, but they really didn't have a reason to before, other than Leon acting like a dick, and the suspision that he was lying about something. I don't think any of them genuinely expected Leon to act so irrationally. Could they have done better? Sure, but you could always do better. It's also reaaaly easy to judge actions when you're not actually there, and you have the power of hindsight (something you see all the time IRL). Everything else, I basically put down to artistic interpretation and pacing.
