A days ago, the FTC fined Hoyoverse from "selling lootboxes to tens under 16 years old".
Here is the PDF of the allegation.

Quick opinion:
A senate probably lost their 50/50 from the Mavuika banner I guess... :smugchisato:
Jokes aside,
Is it yet another lawsuit to penalize Chinese companies on the USA?
If Hoyoverse is really fined from selling lootboxes to kids,
what about the other games from EA, Activision,...
which uses the same mechanics as Genshin Impact and not getting fined?
And also will the FTC also fine Hoyoverse more from their other games?
(Cause the target is Genshin Impact here)

its good that gachashit is being fined/ taken away but its hypocritical if you dont fine/ take away just from one specific group

and i'll be honest, when i was younger i used my card and i spent like £75 on genshin [my money though, and i regret it] so they really should make sure that they can't let kids the the lootbox you know?

cba to grammar

The legal document of the allegation is kind of fun to read. In the section were they argue that Genshin Impact is for Children, they throw some things that Genshin Impact's players won't like.

But more seriously, the allegation is kind of wide and regroup multiple separate violations. First is the violation of the children protection's law : they used/collected children’s personal information without obtaining parental consent, even after obtaining actual knowledge that these users were children.

Second is about commercial law. First, the mirepresentation of the probability of winning a good lootbox. See the "HoYoverse Overstates, and Misleadingly Discloses, Loot Box Odds" of the allegation. Second : the "Multi-Tier Virtual Currency System Is Unfair to Children and Teenagers". Third : the use of influencers like SniperWolfSSS to market unfair lootboxes to childrens/teens.

So it's not against gachas for teens/childrens, but about some specific technicalities broken by Genshin. Misrepresenting lootboxes odds and the multi-tier currency system must be kind of specific to Genshin Impact, i'm not sure it's the case for fortnite or other games.
