I'm interested in this story, but this development in particular leaves a sour taste.
while they seemed to have a loving relationship it's hard to forget that it started because he (intentionally or no) emotionally blackmailed her. She's also at fault too, being the adult she should accept the responsibility to keep his safety and development as a child above her own desires.
Initially I could deal with it since it was just 'part of the story' and I could sorta just ignore that he was a minor, but now that it's a plotpoint it feels like the series wants me to root for them which I can't really do.

Also his friend was awesome and I'm a slightly annoyed he didn't even get thanked for it.
