The manga taking this direction right off the bat is making me pretty nervous. I really hope they don't play this off for laughs or drama like Backstreet Girls does. This is an incredibly real problem women have to face, and with transgender people and crossdressers, it can escalate to murder. I'm sure if the other girl hadn't found him, that's where this situation would have gone. There's also a lot going on with how they managed to track him down with eyewitness updates off social media, which is a terrifying thing as well. Using social media to track down real life information on others and harm them is a serious problem and I hope they don't just gloss over that as some kind of plot device.

It'd simply be nice if they took it seriously and acknowledged the very real danger that was present. I'm not expecting a full lecture in manga format, I just don't want to see this brushed off like it's no big deal, because that tends to spread the idea that this wouldn't be a big deal in real life as well.

So what do you suggest that the author should do more specifically? What is the line that separates brushing it off from addressing it "adequately" in your opinion?

@Sem I agree with everything you said. It's the author's responsibility to do the issue justice, and not just pass it off as a one time plot device for cheap thrills.
Walking alone at night as a woman or just feminine looking person is so nerve-wracking. Not to portray men as predators or anything, but it is a very real risk.

@Ryder96 And this is why you don't go to doggy/dark places like parks at night unless you're with a group, even if you're a guy.

It's all fun and games until you're preyed upon by a roving band of gang-rapists.

The dolt had to learn the hard way to not be alone in an isolated place in public at night.

Although I think the threat is exaggerated a bit here by the author in order to move the plot (albeit, in a contrived way).

And it's not just a female problem. Men and boys can also be victimized. Even if not raped, there's the possibility of being robbed and beaten (or even murdered).
