The consistent use of the word “canteen” throughout multiple chapters is throwing me off.

I’m assuming the translator is ESL.

A canteen refers to a mess hall or cafeteria - a large, public eating space like you have at a school, hospital or a military base.

The word you’re looking for is “kitchen” which is the private cooking space inside of a home or in the back of a restaurant or something.

She’s asking for home-cooked food made in his kitchen; she’s not asking to go to a cafeteria/canteen together.

While informative, the room they’re eating in would still be a kitchen at his kitchen table rather than a canteen. All those examples translate it as a public space when they’re eating in a private space.
I can’t read Japanese which is why I’m here so I can’t comment on the linguistics of the source material - only on the translation which keeps calling a kitchen a canteen.

like mc said in page 2, she was probably just joking around by calling it a canteen. she wouldn't be so excited and said something like "oh, so this is ootsuki senpai's kitchen" in ch6, page14, right?

sure, they have a word for "kitchen" in japanese too, but the author chose the word "canteen", or "cafeteria". i don't see any reason for me to change it into a "kitchen".

btw thanks for the tips u left in ch6. i planned to react to u after i fixed those things. but ive been really busy irl these months (also bc i was lazy) so i haven't get to it till now

Her intentionally calling his kitchen a canteen like it’s her own personal restaurant flew over my head. I did reread this chapter after you mentioned this and I can see it now. The context for that nuance helps and I understand now, but as it stands it’s difficult to notice that nuance by only reading the translated manga - which is why I thought maybe it was a translation mistake at first.

Regardless, thanks for working on this series. It’s one of my personal favorites this past year and I’d have never known about it if you didn’t translate it.

Did this series really have 3 extra chapters? Pixiv only shows 7 chapters in total..
