@Kayriel well, there's the "grey" area which is scanlation when there's no official alternative in your language (here, English) and the "definitely not gray" which is scanlating even though there's an official release. Worse than that are the aggregs hosting official scans.
The first group rode on the grey area and stopped once dark was closing in. The ones who picked it up again are riding high seas high winds.
Not paying because there's no way for you to buy a product you understand and not paying while there's somewhere out there for you are different things.

Of course, this "dangerous" scanlation is still scanlation, meaning it still has nothing to do with the official English release in itself hence why there's no rule against it on MD despite MD standing in favor of following official releases if they're available (outside of MD).

I'm just going over how things are, not taking a stance in this comment, after all I did end up here 🧐
