If Mirika finally bends to this, I'm sure there will be readers who'll drop her from their favorites (because they liked her uncompromising personality and rejection of polyamory), just like how she lost subscribers after airing some relationship dirty laundry on stream.

On a side note, did he ask the other girls if they were fine with this, I wonder? Especially the real harem owner Saki? If this gets a pass, what are the chances we'll see a fifth girl, like that unnamed black-haired classmate of theirs?

people want to say "it's just a gag comedy it's not that deep" which like...okay sure, but then we get to criticize the fact that these last nine chapters exist at all. the author has tried at various points to have a "serious" conversation about what it means to have this kind of relationship and when he ultimately fails at doing that, falling back on "it's all jokes" doesn't really work. i actually don't think this is a surprise - i always expected this to happen - but that doesn't mean it doesn't suck or feel like a waste of time lol. the manga would be way better if it truly was just a gag manga, but instead the author did a genuinely great job at showing us why this whole harem thing would be totally shitty and how as long as they're in this relationship the girls are going to kind of partially loathe it but then still just kind of decided to make naoya cry a lot and the girls shrug and go "okay."

which is how this has always been. it's not a surprise. having a harem manga where all the girls very openly and seriously do not want to be in the harem was never really going to end well. it's always been a whole ass derailing train but finally we can all die soon.

It was the mangaka that decided to give depth to this story, especially in this last arc going full throttle on the drama and light on the gag, so there's nothing wrong with analyzing the depth that he willingly gave to his story.

Now, fi you don't like the fact that gag mangas can have depth and, like everything else, is subjected to criticism, I don't know what to tell you other than you trying to deflect people's criticism of the story does not invalidate them.
