I agree that the joke isn't funny, but I appreciate it on an anthropological level. You'd basicly never get this kind of thing from a contemporary Western series. It's been completely ironed out of our culture (and rightly so). So I find it intresting on that level.

I think it's all about self-awareness and confidence. I have met a lot of incredibly fugly people who managed to get into relationships with some rather attractive people. Meanwhile, I've seen incredibly attractive people with shit personalities who can't get a date to save themselves.
