I could get annoyed about how limp the resolution of that fight was, but honestly what else could have happened? With the obscene amount of magic power she had and the cheat-like strength of the time leap spell, the only real ways this could have ended up is either copying the magic or some sorta anti-magic counterspell, and either way it was done with no setup so it'd feel bad.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the very first chapter "the ability to master magic so quickly he effectively copies it mid-battle" has ever happened or even been mentioned. If that's the case then yeah this does feel unfulfilling since there's nothing that suggests to the reader that he could do that.

Sure, but a genius not showing their work is really boring. It's especially true here because it's not like the genius thought of an unorthodox tactical strategy by thinking outside the box, or broke down the weaknesses of the caster or her spells by having intensive knowledge in the foundation and application of magic. He just watched her do it and wow it turns out he can do it too, how exciting!

And even THAT can be made interesting and tense by (as others have said) letting us know during the fight last chapter that he's deliberately trying to stall for time - then it becomes a race to see if his plan succeeds before his defensive magic runs out. They even could've still kept the "copying magic" thing a secret until this chapter's reveal, but as long as we knew he was planning something then there'd be some better dramatic weight on the battle.
