FTFY. They've become pretty much obsolete except for anything not run on electricity where electronic speed control is readily available, like for opening a carb throttle or a steam valve more or less. They can only react, and only react proportionally, where other means can control a bit more proactively, and can (and likely do) have further control terms in the chain. We used to use these
"control the up and down motion is easier" is just reasoning backwards. Crank linkage is a crutch for translation when your only source of power is something linear, not the ideal solution to generate rotation. Why do you think we don't have solenoid conversions of little steam engines in all our things that spin things but electric motors that generate rotation directly instead?
And why this talk about shoehorning golem labor into the existing build? Isn't upgrade mechanics supposed to result in an entirely new build rather than an existing one with stuff bolted to it? It's not like stuff got bolted onto the starter bench, too, is it?
Also, he keeps talking like his material supply is infinite. He still has to mine for all that mythril and silver and gold and whatnot (combining/upgrading notwithstanding!), and mine whole quarries (p.17) just to get a handful of the stuff; did
