B) they can decifer whatever's left of them
C) the ink isn't washed away if the paper is like leather or smt
D) any other factor that could've destroyed them along the way|

I might be misinformed with the country's current politics to be wrong about this, but if those slimes that are closer to monsters than demi-humans are employed by humans to do literal dirty work, I wouldn't be surprised if those humans would abandon them like scapegoats when an opportunity arises so they can make an escape.
