But ultimately like I said earlier how often do you see romance stories where the ML and FL don't get together? If it was tagged as a drama or tragedy then we have a different possibility
But I think they'll get together against our will.

Exactly, Fumi to me parallels Akaneya from Karaamizakari so perfectly its basially 1:1. Akaneya looked similar to FMC but had a more straightforward personality (not a slut) and basically stripped down and threw herself at MC during a bday celebration saying she love MC, but MC couldn't say it back and just left to go find FMC. If Shinobu is still fixated on Sakura he better let it not get to that stage with Fumi and let her know straight up on the spot.

The MC has a girlfriend and moved out to the city with her after graduation, the FMC likes him but gave him up so the FMC got together with the dad instead and the scenes were shown. The MC returns after breaking up with his GF who IIRC was trash, and found out about their relationship. Might be a different one, I wasn't reading much of the previous comments lol.

Well there is this one. But to be fair a chunk of jp readers seem to agree that ultimately sakura and shinobu will end together for me though that can't happen with how her character is written as well as the netorare set was why it concerns me that shinobu o seemed to still be concerned about Sakura and only accepted because he believes this is what she wants even though she doesn't tell him directly. I swear to God the author between leave him with the better woman.

I will keep all of this in mind, much appreciated for the input. One last question, so we see scenes between SakuraXFuckboi and Shinobu lying down despressed. Eventually friends show up which marks the timeskip end I assume, the question then is have we seen anything about Sakura post timeskip? Assuming the news about her landing a major role was prior.

What a trash ass development. Slutkura become a big star without consequences and gets fucked by fuckboi and our boy shinobu has to through a development...pfff airi shit katsura at her best writing again i guess. Give me shinobu x fumi endgame and the rest idc. More of these useless slutkura x fucjkboi sex scene are unnecessary af.

The way I'm hoping it goes is that she keeps zoning out and not paying attention, mistakes here and there and bam. She gets told off by the director, but gets comforted by fuccboi. But she then wants an alone time, and checks her phone. She notices some posts about a movie, and it was the one Shinobu directed and it starts to become a hit. She hesitates and looks into her contacts and see his name, and the amount of times he called her before. She feels partial regret about not hearing him out, but she knows she cannot just go back and talk to him, so she continues to work but keeps on failing, until even fuccboi starts to get seriously concerned about her.

At a point, she went out to get some fresh air but stumbled upon Shinobu, with Fumi, but not just them, with his friends all around him supporting him and cheering together, whilst she is there behind them alone. As Shinobu turns every now and then to talk with everyone, he noticed Sakura, he stopped but stares at her. He was about to say something, but he knows it's too late so he didn't.

Instead, it's Sakura that reaches out, but everyone else noticed too. She wanted to talk things out, but Shinobu (as I want him to), addresses her as Katsuragi-san and says there is nothing to talk about. He gave her what she wanted so that is that. He continues walking forward with the rest of his friends who seemed concerned but follows him. Except for Fumi who stopped to talk to Sakura.

She drops the bombshell truth to her. Shinobu never cheated on her. Sakura never left his mind and he never had any thought of cheating on someone that he truly loves. Fumi apologises as she feels she is partly to blame for the misunderstanding but the truth is now out. She told Sakura that Shinobu and her now walk different paths and she must understand that he is no longer in her life. Fumi then says that she will do her best to make Shinobu happy, because she knows how bad Shinobu's situation is after the breakup. She says goodbye, and Sakura stood still, frozen, stares blankly down, as tears slowly drip down from her face...

And guess what, it's another fever dream of mine.

In all fairness the childhood friend hasn't been cracked either save for the "what if" that was chapter 20.5 unless I'm forgetting another instance.
