God, Ridley makes me so fucking mad why is she so much better than Sophia at everything it's not fair. It's not even fair to call them rivals since Ridley is basically in another dimension in terms of skill; she's physically fit, she's fast, she's able to dodge bullets, she can use a variety of weapons, and she blows Sophia out of the water in accuracy.

This is one of my favorite manga, so I never forgot, but I was wondering if the mangaka had asked you guys to stop TL'ing it or something, since they (the mangaka) has been uploading their own MTL'd English version on their Fanbox for the past year or so.

I'm glad that isn't the case, since while I obviously respect the mangaka, the MTL is poor. You should try contacting him; I'm sure he'd appreciate the assistance, since he clearly wants to put out an English version, and may be willing to help you with the original textless pages himself!! Just know however, that I think I recall him losing someone close to him recently, so he hasn't been as productive and has taken more time off.

I mean, if he did, I'd consider it, but his MTL stuff is sadly pretty bad.
Unironically what you posted has been on my mind, but I remember trying to talk with him about the design of Dacia's patch and he said he couldn't help me because his editors would get mad (but he liked that people in the West enjoyed his works).
(Also, probably going to do a run of their patch as best as I can get it here on our store soon, for those that are interested in helping to support /ak/ while getting stuff out of it).

At current schedule, by the way, if all goes for naught, probably going to at least finish the current volume out this year and maybe get into the next one. If things go REALLY WELL, then we might be able to get at least to Volume 10 by the end of the year.

Given that, put as politely as possible, the majority of his translation is frankly strange, I don't see why he'd be averse to providing you with the cleaned art, or even chipping in on his desired spelling of foreign names.

I don't know the specifics of your exchange regarding Dacia's patch, but if I were to wager a guess, I'd assume his editors would disapprove as it could be them missing out on a merch opportunity of their own. They don't need a cut if you use your own design, but would likely want one if you were to get official input from the author.
If that was the issue, the translation is very different given he's expressed openness to help and is offering his own for free. Just food for thought.
