I'm not sure if they are all idiots intentionally, or the author is just that dumb that his characters act like idiots because he can't think of anything better for them to do. Like he is genuinely crazy if he's aware of what the executioner is capable of and wants to use identity reveal as his trump card. What this shows is that the cards that Alina has obtained (silver sword and the guildmaster's acknowledgement+word) are useless when they were built up to be more important and capable than that. Like what?? I'll keep reading but this chapter has significantly reduced the quality of the story from good to meh.
