The academy arc climax starts here

In the previous timeline, Rachel summoned a very high ranking water spirit which solidifies her position as the Prince Fiancee.

However in the current timeline, she does not participate the spirit summoning since she already have Kuro. Anna was able to successfully summon a high ranking light spirit like in the previous timeline.

The difference now is that Anna is the only one with high ranking light spirit and making her a Saint. This also weakens Rachel's position as Prince fiancee and the king later ordered him to break the engagement with Rachel and marry Anna instead.

As for the reasoning, the King see no value in Rachel who has lost her power and the dark spirit she has while rare is neither powerful or remarkable. Prince Louis of course is against it but this is the king's order so its not something he can easily wave it off
