We can't discard the possibility that this could be a classic trick to take over the Kingdom.
Make the future ruler incompetent and dependant of his servants to show him how things are.
That way, they can just establish whatever vision of the world they want for him, and guide him to make the decisions they want.
It's quite an old trick with monarchies.

That would be fitting for the otome game aspect of things. Have the protagonist of the game show him the error of his ways and fix things. That said I don't think she's going to in this story, I think her opinion of the prince is even lower than Serina's opinion of him. Though I think Serina still sees him more as a character from the game rather than an actual living person, which is a pretty low opinion in a way.

It's weird because it's one of the only cases of someone dying and I feel a sense of relief rather than sadness. If you killed baby Hitler, you would still go to jail and be villified for it even if you were able to lay out the evidence.

Yeah, the irony of it all is that things like royalty and nobility were technically elected first. People chose to follow these people because they actually cared for those below them. So despite all the shit people give to royalty and nobility, they at least were required to do their due diligence.
