That match looked like bullshit to me.
There are two main branches of Capoeira, one focusing on faster moves at a normal height, and the other focusing on staying very low to the ground. I can't remember which was which any more by name, unfortunately (I'm not Brazilian and don't speak Portuguese). But back when I used to do Capoeira, I used to hate the slow & low form as it absolutely killed the muscles to forcibly keep all movements that close to the ground.
Point being I can't believe a mestre capoeirista would be thwarted so easily by dropping low unless they were 100% focused on the high + fast branch (which is easier, counterintuitively).
I mean sure, capoeira NEVER wins in martial arts tournaments in Asian fiction. NEVER. It always gets treated like a joke that gets taken out in the first round or so. But they could have at least found a more realistic way of doing it.
That aside, I figured that other karate woman would go through originally. I guess the outcome was what I expected afterall, but just took a roundabout way to reach it.
How bothersome.
