Like if you have a brother or sister or someone you view as one, sending them to the FRONT LINES is one of the most heart wrenching things that can happen. You don't know for certain if they will come back or if they will come back as the same person (speaking from experience).

Seems like magic is defined by how strong an attack is. It's good the sister can see merits in magic not suited for direct combat. This is just a guess but likely his magic and skill as a spirit doctor will help save the princess and her troops at some point. Like finding food, shelter, or enemy troop locations if the plants can also talk to each other. Be interesting to see why he was chosen despite being considered to have a "flop" spirit along with the fact he'll be the only man in a large group of women. The sister mentioning him forming a harem from those women is a flag raised and foreshadowing of how complicated his life will get. Looking forward to seeing it.

Btw, pg 23 his sister said "When we first met, whenever..." Wouldn't their first meeting have been shortly after he was born? Or is this implying that he was adopted hence part of the reason she's flirting with him?

@Velsy Wasn't he nervous because the sister is a famous, powerful battlemage, while he failed to acquire a major spirit? Though the sister didn't seem to treat him poorly, he's probably ashamed of his fate especially in front of family members. In front of strangers it's just his own deal, but in the company of his family, he might feel like he betrayed their expectations as well.
