So...it's just me reading the series normally? Not like I'm think it's a masterpiece or anything but I don't think this is even that entertaining to hate read tbh, or feel 'sunk cost', tho tbf hate reading for me is alien because I can only feel hate to something that I thought was good otherwise I just drop it and this really doesn't seem the case for most people.
Not saying that you can't criticize but it's kinda wild for me that people read something that show things they don't like, see no signs of progress and still continue reading hoping for the impossible or just feel annoyed.
I've learned to not take things too seriously in general, but there's a weird facet of human psychology wherein engaging with something that "negatively rewards you" is somewhat addicting. Think doomscrolling on Reddit or Xitter, or getting into flame wars back in the Forums of the Old Internet, or participating in shitposting and ragebaiting simply to rile people up with reactionary takes to watch the drama unfold.
It's just some weird bit of our brain chemistry on the species-wide level wherein, in some manner, people get weird rewarding neurochemical results from being mad about something and then choosing to continue to interact with it.
But doing it too much, in my view, can warp one's entire outlook on stuff in general, and so it's best to try and refrain from actively seeking stuff out that pisses a person off to prevent that negative mindset from setting in.
But, it's still something I know I am prone to doing on occasion - so I choose low-stakes titles like this one as a "pressure valve" to get irrationally upset over and then vent about, so that I get that out of my system and can go back to being more well-adjusted elsewhere with more important things.
On some level I do enjoy this series, but it's just the one I've personally chosen to get Big Mad over because of how dumb it all is at its base, and to mald online where others might join in in ways that aren't going to seriously hurt anyone (or at least I hope).
