Thought I'd check back in and man things really haven't improved for the MC. Im sure they'll end up together in the end but honestly the Mc should hit it and quit it if the girl keeps acting like this.

It's also kinda pitiful to see the france obsession; it's an entire psychological complex where people make a place out to be more than it actually is without doing any research. Theres even a term for the disappointment/ culture shock when people's expectations finally meet with the reality.
