If it's an actual medieval setting they were going for, then him being able to buy land while concealing his identity as a noble would be nonsense. Commoners would never be able to own any.

In most cases the novelists/mangakas seem to have imagined games that don't have any relation to real JRPGs, MMOs, or dating sims. Just a mishmash of elements that allow them to tell a power fantasy and/or harem story.

Also possible that since there are a lot of Japanese rpg that did not reached outside Japan they might have know such games.
