Separate beds(and bedrooms) are nice for a lot of reasons. Like when one of you is sick or when you just want some alone time. It can be real hard to get time to yourself when you live together in an apartment, also having your own "space" is nice, you can arrange things how you each like it etc etc.

Anyway I wonder if this will tackle how hard it is for lesbian couples in japan to get an apartment. That's still a pretty major issue there, female duos are viewed as a "risk" because it's more likely one or both will get married and move out at some point, especially younger girls like them since early 20s is the "prime marriage age".

So does that mean single women have a hard time too? Because those issues would apply at least equally. Or are those supposed issues largely rationalizations for prejudice and so somehow don't apply to single women?

Also reasons like "I overheat easily so having another person in the bed makes it hard to sleep." Or "my partner has a different schedule than me and doesn't want to wake me when they get in." Or "I legitimately kick in my sleep. Hard." (This is me: insist on not sleeping in the same bed as my partner for their own safety)

Not that Chidori had any of the above reasons, mind you.

It's definitely a lot of rationalizing prejudices at it's core. The logic is just sound enough to hold under minor scrutiny and that's about it.

Single apartments are similarly bad but they treat all tenants as temporary. Basically none of those smaller apartments are meant to be lived in long-term. They expect high turnover so they don't reject candidates based on it. Larger places will often just refuse anything that isn't a textbook "safe" option, aka straight cis couples who want kids, because they're terrified of losing theoretical money.

Also worth noting that I'm largely speaking from second hand experience, I am not a woman nor do I live in Japan I just know people who've dealt with this shit

Although I suppose it's because the end is near, it's nice seeing Nanoha, in this meandering story, put a lot of force into keeping the train on the rails. Like, "hey, there's no time for a tangent about what apartment to get. We need to make it to those wedding dresses."
