wow, looks like the nips are finally getting hit with the real woke shit. hopefully they fully boycott this trash but we will know in the next 5 years or so i suppose.
The fact that that's how you chose to refer to the Japanese confirms everything we need to know about you. You're on a website that's all about archiving the art that comes from their country and that's how you see them. God, it's sad how anime and manga attract such horrid creatures.

It's actually shit huh. I read it without the funny translation and it's trash.

Imagine being complimented! The horror!
Good job taking that out of context. Not to mention this is only one page and likely around the beginning and thus the story has yet to get into how serious and dark it'll actually be.

Leave it to someone like you--who is clearly not a black person--to be okay with a "translation" like that. The moderators or the administrators or whoever chose to get rid of it did the right thing. Thank goodness you will never be the head of any website, let alone this one, because I cannot imagine what you would have no problem allowing.
Nyaot folding to paypig processors would have been a good start...

Kynyaoto University had a terrible idea about a decade ago where they would give half-borns from another country free admission. Most returned to their home of origin after graduation but a majority of the Californyan students stayed "to bring their culture more inline with modern ideals"

Context doesn't make this character not insufferable.
This is by all means a trash manga made to push insufferable self-entitled behaviors. An astroturfed one, which makes it even worse. It's okay though because we can own le bigots or something.

Actual mental illness. Defending trash for the sake of scoring points against "the other team".

Didn't this manga came out in 2022? I thought this was something brand new, well it's probably still running but weird no one has bring it up until Viz randomly decided to serialize it.

It probably sucks, if you were born there and live there day one. But the old lady said it the best way possible without being sarcastic or hostile.
Yes it's mildly annoying, but it 100%, 1000% comes from a place of kindness and welcome. You know what adults do in these cases? They take the kindness even if it's slightly awkward. Because intent and content matters more than slight missteps. You know what adults DON'T do? Draw a manga to complain about it.

And did she confront the old lady or something? She was just fucking trying to explain. And that’s somehow insufferable according to you. You must really lack normal social skills.

Grow up and be a better person.

She made a manga to whine about being the target of SLIGHTLY AWKWARD appreciation and kindness. Under no circumstances is this a mature thing to do. The gall of you to call for others to grow up. Absolute midwit.

This is a fucking manga about mixed people’s struggles in Japan obviously they’re gonna include in it, duh?? It’s slightly awkward TO YOU, not her. you’ve never tried having your nationality and identity denied for every sec of your whole life so who are you to decide how others should feel about it??

The fact that you can’t even slightly put yourself in other peoples shoes is exactly the reason you need to grow up.

Interesting premise with a poor execution so far. It all feels a bit overblown and unnatural, with the protagonist blowing up at people for noticing she looks different (which she obviously does) and encountering the same difficulties foreigners do when living in Japan (like the paperwork).

I was honestly hoping for her to do a comeback or retort at the "did your mom fuck a black guy" in the form of "of course, did you think a stork delivered me?". That would have been miles better characterization than whatever the author went with. Building up her character as weak kinda defeats the whole point. She'd be much better as a witty baddie instead.

As much as it's made some hood weebs, tourists and culture warriors seethe, the "localization" isn't that bad, and decently fits the accent the protagonist has (except for the overexaggerated first few pages to filter them). It's way too overblown when other characters like Umamusume's Tamamo Cross speak in a similar way.

Hoping that MD admins come to their senses and add the chapter back.

Do you know japanese to know what the characters dialouge were meant to be portrayed? The one presented was clearly as a means of mocking of AAVE - if you yourself do not know aave then you would simply see it as “black people talking the way you do”. It isn’t your place to dictate what’s fitting and what isn’t.

And while you’re entitled to your opinion of the manga , just because characters do not act in a way you wished does not make the manga inheritedly lacking in portrayal- just lacking in the way YOU would. Whether or not the difficulties are also experienced by other foreigners isn’t the point ; the manga isn’t meant to say only mixed people experience this, it is simply SAYING mixed people experience this (not ONLY). If foreigners do to, oh well. The premise of the manga is experiences, so it’s obviously gonna be mentioned. This isn’t a contest between “well foreigners experience this too, so why’re you mentioning it?”. Get a grip.

The character isn’t yours. Don’t intertwine your beliefs of a character into an overall lack of portrayal. You’re intertwining your opinion between actual facts, and you’d be wrong.

In what way does it fit the original accent wtf? They speak in a hakata accent If these characters were full Japanese speaking with the same accent they would have been localized with some southern accent or something but because they're half black they get localized with fake ass AAVE? like how can you not see the racism here?

They don't care lol, there was literally a guy above saying that the mangaka was too sensitive for having the character respond to being treated as an outsider to their home country as a minor inconvenience. Some people respond negatively to stories they struggle to relate to and end up saying dumb stuff as a result.
