Ugh all this focus in Nagisa is really bothering me. The anime really ruined the character for me and the manga isn't doing anything to fix it... This match will be really long for me.

Anime Nagisa stopped pushing her teammates too hard since the 2nd episode, when the new coach arrived and gave them a proper training routine, it could be argued that since the later half of the 1st episode, she stopped being as hard on her teammates as she is on herself. She also motivated Riko and Nozomi.

@shadowbringer sure, but my issues with Nagisa is how the narrative wanks to her in detriment of the main character. The anime killed the character for me because of that. It is not really a fault of the character but one from the narrative itself. The manga seems going down the same path making my issues with her worse.

@kamui seems to me that the specific parts (or the arc itself) that were adapted into the anime did focus more on Nagisa, and adaptation compression very likely helped it (so they apparently didn't have enough screentime to introduce Viggo and Li Xiao; it's possible that Uchika differs between the manga and anime as a result of the lack of Viggo's interference, so manga Uchika's goal of training more people for Ayano to play against and manga Ayano's goal of meeting her mom got modified due to adaptation compression). Hopefully the manga will give the other characters more focus too, after this match/arc.

Just like a manga to turn a match like this into a world-shaking confrontation.
This should be not much more than training with spectators. With the main competition coming closer, risking Nagisa's knee or other injuries by going all-out against one another would be to the detriment of the team's chances at IH.
