bought the raw because I needed to read it all and it was necessary to support the cuteness.
Alternative (though I don’t think better, just different) translation:
”I guess it’s because I’m probably nonbinary“.
The statement is vague (Japanese always kinda is), so it could be interpreted as “I guess my gender situation is causing people to assume one or the other”, “I guess I’m nonbinary because I don’t mind being taken as either” or both.
The fact that he doesn’t bother to explain and just says “it’s whatever” so the conversation can move along and then THEY ARE SO CUTE!
Even in Japanese it’s all he/him so there’s no “well, then I’m not gay. Whew” factor. It’s just “huh. Well, I’m glad it doesn’t bother you. (Because you’re super cute, and thus…)”
I’m rambling. I just really like “I’m not exactly a guy. Anyway…“ and on with the story.
No big deal made on part of the author, the characters…
