This story really dredges up feelings at the bottom of the heart and shines light on them.

I've known for a long time that fitting in isn't the same as belonging, but here's a rare case where someone can belong without exactly fitting in, and it still feels natural.

I wonder why tsugumi never looked for midori even if she always liked the time they spent together, maybe she feared that? and Midori too, why never try to find her. So many things left unfinished I understand how regretful she feels

Drama done right, not the other stuff that's either overly dragged, excessive or snoozefest.

Also it's a really big plot hole that the two never contacted each other but her number was in the phone and they liked each other a lot, enough that she turned up for the funeral despite not hearing from her since hs.

But i'll forgive it since the art and writing is so gripping.

@kashell11 @deltarayedge Midori thought her affection was completely one-sided and that Tsugumi probably didn’t even consider her a close friend, just a classmate or a passing acquaintance, because she was always so bright and surrounded by friends, whereas Midori was gloomy and always alone. You can see this in how Midori talks about the time they spent together – how she thought those moments probably didn’t mean much to Tsugumi, but she herself valued the time over everything.

So Midori thought contacting her and looking for her would be bothersome for Tsugumi, and that because they weren’t close, she didn’t even have the “right” to go that far. I think it’s clear she wanted to find her again, but she was too scared to act on it.

Turns out she was completely wrong, but it’s too late for that now.

God I feel sorry for Tsugumi. I mean I don't blame Midori for not forcing herself into Tsugumi's life after she disappeared; she didn't realize just how precious their time together was to her, but I guarantee Tsugumi never opened up to anyone about any trouble in her life like she did to Midori, even if it wasn't very much. You can almost feel that cry for help when Tsugumi was wondering if she had a place anywhere. I'm almost afraid to learn the full scope of Tsugumi's story, if it actually ever gets properly elucidated.

Deep down I'd like to hope that Tsugumi somehow knew Midori would be there for her daughter.

Best chapter so far. I like how they cleared up the misunderstanding and how they've opened up to each other.

Im pretty sure that midori didnt have a way of contacting her, only tsugumi had the phone number. Anyways, this chapter was brilliant, thanks for translating.

Fucking spectacular chapter. I may be a bit biased (I'm an introvert that had one amazing friend at school), but Midori's so great of a character. Love her pouring her heart out and trying her best to right her wrongs. Not that she did anything wrong, but that's how she feels, I think.

By the way, Jennifer, once I'm done writing this, I'm calling to check on you. Promise.

@karolyn it doesnt explain why Tsugumi didn't contact Midori. The trio of the whole phone number scene, the instant disappearing scene and all the melodrama about how they actually liked each other just feel ridiculous now. The aunt instantly got in touch with her via Tsugumi's phone. So Tsugumi liked Midori enough to ask for her number, brag about her to her daughter, and all the time she had some good reason for instantly disappearing and not ever calling her about it?

I'm sure they'll elabourate on it later on, but right not it's not very satisfying.

and as you pointed out, the Midori side is at least believable to some extent.
