WHERE ARE THE DITCHES?!
The wall around that town is weak and unfinished. DIG A DITCH! They need the dirt for the crappy wall anyway, dig a big ditch around the outside and get the dirt for the wall from there. Maybe add spikes in the ditch, or fill it with water and turn it into a moat (the river sounds like it's not that far away.
Walls are great, but ditches are cheaper, easier, and make your wall effectively taller as well. Get both with not that much extra work. It's a win/win.

A hero in the past became a demon king, so we thought the best plan was to summon an entire class of potential heroes/demon kings then mentally, emotionally, and physically traumatize them (plus work/starve one to death) in hopes it would work out better this time...f'n really? I think the princess genuinely wants to be freed from her responsibilities and become a plaything at this point.

Here is how I think the author is trying to spin this crap.
Past summoned Heros got drunk with power and turned "demon lords", so we will enslave any future summoned heroes and beat them into submission to avoid that in the future... aka trying to spin this into "see Camilla is not a bad person for enslaving children, sending one to be eaten by goblins and staving another to death.... noooo, she did it all to prevent giving birth to a new demon lord".... and other bullshit story telling Japanese manga/novel author's do to exonerate a potential for the MC waifu.

She summoned more than 100 children enslaved them because she wanted more power for her own machinations. Literally and knowingly sent one of them to be eaten alive by goblins and order the slow execution by starvation of another. Then she shows no remorse and dehumanizes them in the minds of her people by calling them monkeys.

She deserves nothing by a slow torture and death by being constantly eaten by goblins and healed just before she expires.

Now if you forgive her just because you simp on her...that's just silly there are tons of other girls in this Manga that are a million times better looking than her and don't have that evil a disposition.

Yep. That was why the MC was the best case scenario for this. He was largely a good person at his core, even if lustful. That isn't to say that he is off the hook for letting Camilla go given everything she did. It isn't like she was on the same level of the knight who was having a bit of a romance with one of the classmates. She at least had a bit of a character arc to redeem herself, wasn't actually responsible for how they were treated beyond what she personally did, and tried to do better for them.

Just as Camilla has to look after her people, and her actions make sense as a ruler, as scummy as they are, so too does he need to look after his own people. You cannot be a good person and a good ruler at the same time. Eventually, you will run into a situation where you have to either abandon people for the greater good of the country or sacrifice another group for your people. Even with overwhelming power like the MC has, it only takes you so far.

What even happened to the maids? There was the one maid that loved(?) the "hero," but I don't remember them popping up after the rescue.
