to an extent i can understand her slapping him they have been in those conditions for who knows how long with friends dead (they think they 5 group died). if i was in his position i would probably let it slide as well tbh since i couldnt save them earlier.

I think it is a reflection of how you need to bow to superiors within Japanese culture, even from high school hierarchy's are enforced pretty hard. It's magnitude's higher when you get in a group setting, which is what happened here.

From the much more ego centric western view of things it becomes a point in a story that the MC will overcome personally, in manga a lot of times even if you don't get to personally overcome them getting recognition from others tends to be how they overcome it. The "I left the heroes party and found somewhere else where they realised I was actually crazy OP the whole time" stories reflect this a lot.

Yea.. those story plots get definitely get alot more love than Hazure's kind of story plot. MC is a kid and not an adult so when he makes childish moves it just makes us adults who are no longer young cringe. However it kind of make sense for a MC that age.

I guess this kind of story plot gave birth to the "crazy OP the whole time" stories after all the readers' feedback.. but it's a good change of pace.. at least that's the case for me..

Well, if it's like the web novel, Motomiya begs for forgiveness but goes overboard and looks like a pervert about it.

Otherwise, this is happening exactly like the web novel, minus the part pointing out how Yuika enjoys acting. If Yuika isn't made kinder to Kent in this version, it may be a dropping off point for people.

• From a Doylist (out of universe) perspective, Yuika seems to be cruel to Kent to act as a literary foil to make other love interests shine more brightly.
• From a Watsonian (in universe) perspective, I'd say at least the webnovel Yuika has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

Here’s the thing about their reaction to this….

They thought the MC was long dead too!

Their reaction should actually be “holy c**p if useless mc survived then that means those 5 survived for sure and just escaped!” (Remember last time they saw Mc was him being expelled due to him being useless not to mention they didn’t seem to even like him that much before.)

Also hero boy needs to get his face kicked in a few times with the amount of useless ego he radiates…

To be fair these guys think the other 5 from the previous live battle exercise died. They didn't know Kokubun has been working behind the scenes to rescue them. Of course they'd react that way when he just nonchalantly appears after what they've been through
That said, I hope he doesn't let that slap slide(though we all know he will). Can't wait for next chapter to see how quickly their attitudes switch up lol
