I sort of agree, it's a tad too much for a fantasy manga, doesn't give enough escape from the real world if you see the worst part of humanity realistically reflected like that

I think we did find our traitor. he did try to figure out Kento's secrets though threats(which is stupid because he is an otherworlder and it is an explanation in itself) and now he MOANS about Kento getting the stones?
I do think that he is an spy from Camilla's or one of the prince's camp to enable conflict and mistrust which he fails so hard at.
Perhaps he needs a nice warm knife in his back.

Well, not everyone's a good person. It makes the good people shine better if there are assholes around (I feel like that was Yuika's purpose originally as well). I'll give you spoilers on those two.

Spoiler: Will Pedel get better?

Well, he spends most of his page time giving advice to younger adventurers, for the ultimate purpose of using them. So I guess not?

Spoiler: Will Gilik get better?

At one point, Muel gives Gilik an ultimatum to become A rank or she'll marry Kent (not that she's really interested in Kent). This makes Gilik desperate enough to beg Kent to train him alongside Kondo and the other students. But he goes back to his old ways soon after. At least he gets his arm cut off which Kent refuses to treat.
