Huh, up until the end there I was expecting him to secretly be one of the examiners since that's a fairly common trope, but he really was a scumbag this time (and not in the "trashy in personality but shockingly competent and reliable when you get to know them" trope that you also see a lot in authorities/mentors in media).

Well, I don't imply that Roland was pleasuring him. Rather, death by strangulation (or hanging) can cause ejaculation or involuntary urination. To quote:
